- Religious Studies Research Grants for BYU Faculty
- Each year the Religious Studies Center offers a limited number of research grants to BYU faculty or CES personnel for projects related to LDS history, doctrine, scripture, and culture.
- Funding levels depend upon the nature of the project and could include financial assistance for travel, supplies, and wages for research assistants
- Applications should be sent to the Religious Studies Center (370 JSB)
- Proposals should include:
- a vita
- a description of the project
- an estimate of financial needs
- length of the project
- department chair recommendation
- any other pertinent information
- Notifications will be around July 20, 2009
- The money will be available for disbursement January 2010 and must be used by December 31, 2010.

Student Funding
- David O. McKay Essay Contest
- All entries must be received by January 15, 2010
- Essay Theme: The Restored Gospel and Applied Christianity
- Essays should stress the application of gospel ideals in daily living.
- Awards:
- First Prize: $1,200
- Second Prize: $1,000
- Third Prize: $700
- Rules:
- BYU full-time Undergraduate and Graduate Students
- Between 2,000-5,000 words in length, typed, double-spaced
- Submit two stapled copies of essay with a single cover sheet attached with a paper clip. The cover sheet must include your name, division (Undergraduate or Graduate), student I.D. number, mailing address, telephone number, and title of entry. Your name should not appear on other pages of the essay.
- Winners will be notified before April 8, 2010

- Portfolios MUST include a letter of nomination from a member of the student's faculty
- Portfolios may include:
- Details concerning performances (both music and/or stage performances)
- Paintings, sculptures, photographs, exhibits, competition awards, etc.
- In the case of Visual Arts, portfolios may be submitted on a CD.

- To apply for SCREENWRITING: Four copies of the script must be submitted to the Theatre and Media Arts Department (D-581 HFAC) by (TBD) at 5:00 p.m. For details, please visit http://tma.byu.edu.
- To apply for PLAYWRITING: For playwriting, turn in two copies of the script. They must be one act and full-length scripts, 30-150 pages in length, on any topic, using any approach or format. Submit to TMA front desk by (TBD) at 5:00 p.m.
